Project Management e-Learning Curriculum

Project planning and control is critical to the implementation of a successful project.

Many project managers and aspiring project leaders have received limited formal training in the area of project planning and control. Even staff that are conversant in project methodologies like Prince2 may not have a thorough understanding of how to control costs and manage risks within a project.

This entire curriculum consists of approximately 17 hours of education in the tools and techniques required to effectively manage projects of varied sizes.

Each module uses interactive exercises and animations to help the student retain the knowledge gained.

Each course has a pre- and post-test along with an index system that allows each student to use the material as an online reference tool, dipping into subjects as and when required.

With interactive and clearly laid-out screens students are engaged with tasks and exercises throughout. These courses are regarded as world class in their field.

The entire curriculum is CPD (Continuing Professional Development) certified, and organisations like BAE, Rolls-Royce, KBR, Balfour Beatty, BNFL, HMGCC, BT and VT Shipbuilding (to name only a few) use these courses as part of their overall training programme within the area of project management.

Based on the APM Book of Knowledge (APM BoK), there are five courses, covering the following areas:

Estimating – Preliminary estimating techniques such as PERT, Factor and Cost per unit estimating, etc.

Cost Planning & Control – Traditional milestone-based approaches, inc. Earned Value Management.

Risk Analysis & Management - Likelihood/impact, producing a risk register and Monte Carlo, etc.

Resource Management – Resources & activities and resource levelling.
